sure. lightning uses basically the same protocol as wireguard (which tailscale uses). So it makes sense to just use lightning directly instead. It even has a TLV packet format which allows you to send custom messages like RPC.

It never really took off though and i ended up working on damus instead. I still use it personally, i may be the only one.

Well the idea is that you don’t need to understand anything, you just tap your phone on your lightning node and everything just works. Never got thst far though

Yeah that is also something I was way more optimistic about earlier on, the idea that the if the software is as simple as possible then people will more likely do it, but making the hardware simple is a challenge. Maybe a custom made embedded device that is super reliable 🤔 like the node version of a bitkey

Well ya I do but I was saying the making-it-simple-for-everyone bit. It requires scanning a qrcode on your node, which i didn’t have an off the shelf solution for regular people. Ideally it would just be an nfc tap on a custom hardware device

It just requires a CLN node that you can connect to. No other software
rusty added commando support into CLN just for my use case basically, so it works for all CLN nodes battery included. Unfortunately most people use LDK
