Well, it’s probably not as popular anymore but I know many people that still play it and I occasionally see random people walking around playing it. I heard it was also popular to drive around playing it as well now.
Never played it myself though.
Didn't it turn out to be a big operation for data collection and now the same company sells services that are trained on that data (ai that generates 3d models out of images, accurate 3d mapping indoors and outdoors, etc) .. also sold shit ton of data to the CIA

it's a genre that appeals to a certain type of people and those people still play.
