Yes. I see a world where you can stream live and provide access to pre recorded comedy shows, even cabaret, and audiences can reward artists/shows they like in sats.

I have no idea how, still figuring out how to message etc but the open source nature of this space makes it feel inevitable.

There is a lot of pondering going on about monetization on Nostr at the moment. I think Nostr badly needs ORIGINAL comedic content.

For video content, there is a new Nostr client called https://www.flare.pub/ that I am yet to try. Live content can be streamed via zap.stream.

Some relays are rolling out Patreon style subscriptions.

For podcast and audio content there is wavlake.com and fountain.fm, not truly full Nostr but with Nostr/LN integration.

I posted about music artist this morning, I believe a similar approach would fit stand up comedy.

Thanks for these. I'll look into them. The first hurdle will be convincing artists to jump on board. But for a live show, it could be a case of paying them in fiat whilst also setting their wallets up, then letting them see the rewards. Hopefully from there, their curiosity grows.

Best angle to start with would be a collaboration with a comedy club. Getting an agreement to stream some of their content.

They already have their business model, you can present this as an additional marketing channel. This secures some content for months to come, and all the participating acts get onboarded week after week.

I’d look into splitting the zaps during the live amongst the act (big chunk), the venue and the streamer. (You would be the streamer) Snippets can then be cut out and used on VoD clients for marketing purpose again with splits going to act, venue and video producer. Long form content could be later delivered via subscription model or zap for view.

The first question is: would you like to accept donations (in Bitcoin) for your marketing content?

The second question is: would you like to tap into an emergent market (with little active competition at the moment)?

The third question ( for the acts) is: would you like to help us reimagine digital content distribution in a sovereign fashion?

I'm sure it's yes's all round for those questions.

The tech side, cameras to use for streaming etc. I'd need to figure this all out, plus work out the technical side of splitting the zaps.

But starting is the key.

I used to work in video production. If you have questions regarding that, just shoot.
