Okay, just decided i’m gonna try and stop giving ‘likes’ for awhile and either just give zaps or actual responses.
While likes help signify that you saw or agree with a note, they are the lowest effort/quality signal that exists.
We’re breaking new ground here so I want to get out of the old paradigm. Let’s see how it goes and how it feels. Might be a bit challenging. ⚡️

I’m on board! More comments, a repost, or a zap, less likes! Even a 1 or 2 sat zap is better than a like and communicates you saw/liked it! the same signal!

They are the lowest form of engagement for sure. I know many want to phase out likes. I haven’t completely thought it through myself. So wonderful we have this community to hash out these ideas.
Exactly this, just an experiment for now to see how it feels. We’ve been conditioned to just like but how do incentives and communication change when each ‘like’ isn’t free? Shaka
I’m not convinced likes are all bad. They can be an acknowledgment that you’ve read someone’s note or even that you agree with what they’re saying (but not compelling enough to be zap or repost worthy). Being acknowledged can feel valuable

Agree with you for sure but figured its worth giving a try just to see how it feels this way. When a simple like can be worth minimum 1 sat or 5 and its all instant and in app then i think thats the model. But just doing this as a little experiment for myself thats all…. Like to try new things but agree that ‘likes’ arent without some merit/value in themselves
I like options. More options are good and allows for like you say other types of acknowledgement than purely monetary.
What’s your zap strategy? Small zaps high frequency? Or bigger zap and don’t do it as often and save it for stuff you really like?
I don’t know my strategy yet honestly…. I think thats why im gonna try this, to figure it out. Once its all in app and easily switchable it’ll make so much more sense most likely
