It would be easy to blame on pesticides herbicides and fungicides though and not climate hysteria.

That's exactly what has been found, land use change and intensification of agriculture is the primary driver. Climate change is expected to make it worse though:
Also habitat destruction. Many of the ag fields where I grew up had fence rows. This gives insect predators a place to live. These are mostly gone, I imagine more pesticides are required now
I do seem to see fewer bug splats on my windshield come to think of it!🤔
