I’ve always thought this about the grocery store. Eliminating the rewards could mean paying 20% more for groceries as just about everything has a “member” price. Is there a work around? Maddening. Maybe that’s just the tradeoff…

If they are offering you 20% how much are they making off of it?

Do the services like privacy . com that mask your bank debit or credit card purchases with random cc numbers work to break the heuristics at stores or do they simply end up being a data honeypot?

They break the link for the vendor you used it at. There is no way to really know if they are a Honeypot or not. I lean towards that they are a honest actor but if you have a high threat model best to stick with cash and gift cards
