So nobody afraid of their private data sent to arbitrary servers, right? I’m just a bit confused, yesterday it was called spying and malware and today its a boon for decentralization — hype cycles are so fickle, fascinating!

Depending on whether the technology is used for positive or negative purposes is how it gets labeled.

If you are posting your private information on public networks, that is the problem.

Most people who venture into things like Bitcoin and Nostr would hopefully be doing so behind a VPN and/or TOR, otherwise they are exploring unknown lands without a guide or a first-aid kit.

A quality VPN can take care of most peoples needs if used appropriately.

The masses are uneducated about using the internet unfortunately.

Freedom is not something that is given.

It is something that you have to take.

I post freely with the knowledge that I've been doxxed extensively when I was younger for being a shitheel, and the expectation that anything NOT currently out there that puts me in a bad light will be eventually.

It's both a good and bad reason to just not give a fuck and post everything I feel under MY name; no one else can do any more reputational damage than I myself can.
