Good question. I have no personal experience doing it on a phone, but I've seen a few people do it before so it is possible. Howard Chu even used his car radio to mine. Not sure if this specifically can help you mine but you can run a node with it.

I've got a reply on Reddit that may have answered this question, i've just skimmed through it untill now.

Seems like a code to turn the device into a rig with no root.

I think it's worth it if the goal is to learn by practice, not sure about it energy wise.
