Yep. Iāve seen it. FUCK YouTube.
šÆ
At this point, Iāve committed to posting EVERYTHING here on Nostr and only posting every other day there. Iām so sick of the bullshit where subscribers and views keep going up but āreal watch timeā somehow never budges. But I need those 500hrs of real watch time (however they are discounting the watch time I AM getting) to monetize there. Just screaming into the wind, obviously.
On the flip side, Iāve earned around $5 USD equivalent in sats since starting here. Obviously not enough to retire or anything, but at least Iām EARNING ANYTHING. I donāt expect to be a millionaire overnight. I just expect PROGRESS and a path towards it. Apparently thatās too much to ask anywhere else.
Exactly. Nostr is perfectly positioned for the small-following and independent artists and creators who would never have a chance to monetize on other platforms, and to do so in a more authentic and human way that lets them remain true to their art, which is something most indie artists want anyway. You can develop a niche community or following here and actually get supported for doing so, if they are the supporting type š
Well that last bit is just life. If you have an audience of Mr. Krabs clones, then you are going to struggle no matter WHAT your product. Same if you just suck and no one likes your work. But at least there isnāt an artificial barrier between me and my audience paying me here.
BOOM. THERE IT IS. Feel free to pay me if you like it. DONE. I like the Wavlake monetization model too of āno gatekeeping, we just take our small fee of the top when forwardingā. As long as that fee doesnāt get overbearing, itās a simple strategy.
I like Wavlake too. I think every app should allow users to designate a portion of their INCOMING zaps to be forwarded to the devs to support them. Damus sorta-kinda tried, but they made it for your outgoing zaps, which is counterintuitive. If your app allows me to earn revenue as an artist, such as with Wavlake, then Iām happy to automatically forward some of what I earn to you as it comes in. But if all Iām doing is consuming content and zapping it, then I donāt want to also pay extra to the dev. Thatās a complete loss for me as the consumer.
Agreed. I agree with your assessment on the incomming vs outgoing payment ātaxā model as well.
lol. āArtists and creatorsā. Most are no-talent AI prompters and ardent self-help consuming beggars.
Believe it or not, there are actually real/legit artists and creators trying to use social media to promote their work and generate some revenue. Yes, thereās a lot of AI garbage. But that doesnāt negate the fact that there are many legit artists too. The fact that those platforms let the AI slop push out legit artists just makes my point all the more compelling.
I donāt think you understand what the word āmostā means.
Iāll teach you what āmutedā means. Bye bye.
