It does! Once my feet have shaped the socks, flipping them is uncomfortable.
the socks i tend to buy are hiking socks, usually wool
cotton, even with the elastane, is not as elastic as wool and elastane, wool alone is a very flexible fibre and merino wool is not irritating to wear
i'm pretty sure that you could make fine thread based pure merino wool socks without elastic that would still stretch enough that you can flip sides without noticing any difference in the tension of the toe sides
my advice is consider switching to wool socks
