From what I understand, they’re able to intercept messages before they’re sent across the network. An example of this tactic was used on social media during the pandemic in 2020 to stop “misinformation.” I don’t know the specific technique used in this case. I can only hypothesize. But it can be done.

That would be called spyware on your phone/laptop. Once the request is packaged to be sent to the server, it is private between your computer and Snapchat's servers like a private hidden tunnel.
