In the coming years, it will be increasingly important to make local connections with people who know how to raise animals and produce meat. Also people who know how to garden and grow food, and tradesmen who know how to fix things and make things. Find these people and support what they are doing. Maybe a good new years goal for all of us is to learn one thing that we can do for ourselves. #grownostr #makeyourown #localproducers

You are living the way. Carry on! πŸ€™

I'm finally going to extend my garden this year beyond the little bits. This is our second winter here in this house and as tired as I am of growing gardens I have to leave, I have to just live for right now and not what might happen later. Right now our food system is a mess, and who knows if I'll have to move again. I'll be planting.

You could consider planting in pots too, if its a temporary situation. Plus it can be less work as far as ground prep. Nothing wrong with pots.

Reallllly hoping it's not temporary but you never know what a day will bring

Look for local food co-ops as well. I am part of one here in eastern Washington and we have been supplying food locally since 2014. There are a number of co-ops and food hubs all around the country.

You are 100% right. I’ve been living on a farm as a weekender for 7 years and only full time for coming on two years. I still need to develop my network.

I have been using my time to learn how to maintain the things I own and now I repair all my buildings myself, do light plumbing and electrical, maintain my vehicles and other machines.

Today I am going to try out the stick welder I traded a neighbour for a ride on mower.

This summer I plan to build a raised garden with barrier protection from coyotes, deer and other competitors for my lettuce!

You are doing very well for yourself, all that knowledge is very valuable.

Turns out my stick welder test run was a bust. The outlet I thought I could use was only 30 Amp and I need 50 Amp. Always learning! πŸ˜…

Well put!
