It is not very deep in the water. It was placed there with a boat and a crane. And, it is not the only one of its kind.

The statue was placed near the spot where Dario Gonzatti, the first Italian to use SCUBA gear, died in 1947. Supposedly it is a Tribute to all divers who have lost their life at sea.
