Two years ago I had the same thing happen. 4500$ Air France. Bank gave me back the money same day. Never knew what came of it.

In all seriousness - I wonder if they have a loose return policy. If they accept returns to the holder, especially in cash - that’s the hustle.

Well, no. Air France didn’t give back the money. My bank did, and then their fraud department went after the money.

I've met a few of these guys. It's a common laundering hustle.

Yes. That annoying policy at most stores is usually instituted to prevent being involved in fraud. Assholes ruin it for everyone else.

Makes the scammer harder to trace. They usually use a mule/courier to return the item too, so they don’t appear on camera.
