Thank you! I don't get why people masturbate so much over him. The Breedlove podcasts was meh. I understand his framing but it's shallow and risky, compared to what a peaceful (deterrent) frame can achieve.

I would have used the term SoftPower rather than SoftWar, but otherwise i believe his thesis to be legit. Bitcoin is digital defensive technology for projection of power.
Agree it is defensive technology. That is quite different than calling it a weapon, or war, or violence
Money is power. Financial war is war. We cannot be naive about that. A defensive technology can easily turn to an offensive with the tide changing. U.S. will strategically have to adopt Bitcoin at some point.
The definition of war is “a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or groups of people.”
Bitcoin does not involve any “arms” or weaponry or physical harm whatsoever.
Financial “war” without any physical harm is quite different than real war with guns and tanks and bombs.
Bitcoin enables peaceful collaboration through a shared public ledger. This is quite literally the opposite of war.
That is the whole point of Space Spook's thesis is to change kinetic warfare to electronic competitive warfare (arms race if you will).
I do not agree that financial warfare has no physical harm.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with his actual thesis. Jason's thesis is quite similar to your "Bitcoin is peace" statement. Informed critiques are more useful than knee-jerk reactions.

He is calling Bitcoin a form of warfare. If you take the broadest metaphorical understanding of the word “warfare,” then yes Bitcoin is war in the same sense that a game of Chess or Scrabble or competition between Apple and Google is war.
But if you consider what the word “war” means in reality, Bitcoin is the precise opposite of war. It makes threat of violence impotent via cryptography and triple entry accounting. It enables peace, not war. His thesis is false.
Hmm. To his point, he is talking about power projection. Using physical power to defend property. Instead of using kinetic energy, bitcoin uses electricity.
If good money is the main goal of Bitcoin, which I believe it is, then hashing power is akin to 'war'. The context of what we've previously known as 'war' is killing other human beings. If the race is on to hold/create/govern the hardest money on earth then hashpower is war.
If Lowery's thesis is false (as it well may be the case), it is not because of the semantic word-play argument that you presented. He calls it a new type of warfare for specific reason. Softwar war is to be a bloodless war of power/hashrate competition. If anything, I see him as almost too idealistic, peaceful, and utopian even. I wish he was right.

Lowery wants to replace kinetic war with bloodless PoW hashrate competition. What can be more idealistically peaceful than that? The handwritten version was chosen deliberately because it made over 6m impressions on social media (there are other versions of that diagram). No need for personal attacks. What Jason is saying is very peaceful when you dig in... It is also very strategic. I recommend the series with Breedlove to really get into the details. Lowery in my very skeptical opinion is a good actor.
