Civil servants and soldiers in South Sudan haven’t been paid for months – forcing some to turn to side hustles or abandon their jobs all together.

The country has seen a drop in oil revenues amid war in neighboring Sudan and the recent rupture of a crucial oil pipeline. Now the already fragile country is seeing protests in the capital over lack of pay.
