I have a question, if you mute does that only prevents you from seeing their replies or does it actually blocks them from replying to your posts?
I have this question because some nostr clients allow you to block people and even delete posts.

you can’t control what people say or don’t say other than for yourself.

Muting only prevents you from seeing their replies.
Individual relays may or may not choose to ban an individual who keeps getting reported (a different thing from muting) from posting, but much like support for deletion / editing, it’s extremely unlikely ALL relays will do so, so I’d expect there to be effectively no barrier to a troll being able to reply to you. You can just choose not to see anything else they say.

People tend to ignore when I have earbuds in and I’m too polite to ignore them back.
To be fair, they probably usually can’t see them under my hair.
