I don't like the argument that if we didn't have a law for everything then there would be chaos. This implies order stems from law, but it doesn't.

Order stems from incentives. Before we had societies or laws, people grouped together due to mutual incentives for doing so. From this natural order and organization laws emerged to better define and protect these natural incentives, not the other way around.

Removing majority of laws would significantly improve order, organization, and freedom.

This excuse of chaos is to control us; without laws, things would organize themselves! We would organize ourselves!

So many people I know have fallen into that trap.

I can imagine

This is close to the Bastiat's book "The Law"

It's not chaos being prevented. Its perfectly natural for the physically strong to subjugate and enslave the weak and rule in their own interest - see history for examples. Laws are the way we agree on what is fair and right instead it just being might that dictates.
