The situation is actually quite different from before, conversion through state violence might be the only way.
In antiquity, the average pagan had an awareness that reality was a series of tragedies, and that all men were prone to evil. So when they learned of the Fall, and subsequently, the redemptive work of Christ, it mapped right onto a worldview they already had, which is why it spread like wildfire in Rome long before it was legalized.
Today, even that basic groundwork of pagan tragedy is gone. If you ask a zoomer what they think man’s evil consists of, they’ll probably say racism, or White people, and zero comprehension beyond this. Pagans also believed in metaphysical reality, moderns don’t.
I don’t think we’re “convincing” anyone back into anything. The average person is an idiot who couldn’t decide for his own soul if he wanted to (which he doesn’t.) The only way to get back to sanity is actually enforcing Christian laws, burning heretics. Things like the Muslims do.
