Forgot where I read it but mathematically, the 12 words offers same security as 24.

If that was the case there would be no reason for 24 word seeds to exist
Yea, remember the wordlist BIP39 from which the words are picked, there are 2048 words?
2048^12 combinations possible for 12 words, or 2048^24 combinations possible for 24. 24 lots more secure
But they say 12 words is "safe enough" for now, but I would rock 24 for the longterm HODL wallet cuz I'm weird. Can always swap from 12 to 24 and pay a little network fee it's all good
Note: nobody cracked 12 yet today and odds are extremely small. Thus HW wallet like Trezor defaults to 12
