Had a blast harvesting wild Ruffed Grouse with my mate.

He got amazing results cooking them a few different ways over our trip.

There are no grouse where I live without travelling an hour outside town.

This all got me thinking about other birds…. Specifically pigeons.

I’ve heard good things about pigeon meat. But want to avoid city pigeons.

Does anyone have experience with attracting pigeons to their backyard and starting a little ‘coup’ to harvest I’m a sustainable way?

Going to start seriously looking into this I think.

We used to catch them in big nets with long handles in farmers’ hay lofts, stick them in a cage and take them live to the Italian farmers market to sell. Some nights we would get as many as 20. Can’t say I’ve eaten one, but I would.
