He’s declared for Democrats and they have a primary process which determines their nominee - if he doesn’t win that, could he still switch to LP in the same election cycle?

Technically, primaries are for parties not government.that being said it would be hard to jump ship and gain popularity in a different party
The LP has their own nomination process, which he is free to enter into if he drops out early.
I think the better strategy would just be to run as an independent, though.

Any idea of the timing for the Democratic primary vs the LP process?
Kanye ran as independent and couldn’t get on the ballot in a bunch of places I seem to recall. At least the LP has the machinery in place to give an alternative an actual run to avoid this was my line of thinking.
The Democrats primary starts in the middle of winter and is usually decided by early spring.
The LP does their entire nomination process in the early summer, so the timing potentially makes sense.
