Best theory I have for this is that these are nodes that only have 1TB of storage and their storage is maxing out.

Yeah, especially if they are running adjacent application not just the blockchain.

I was at 90% disc usage on the 1TB SSD, if you had anything else on there too (like home server) those nodes now can't store any more blocks.

yes, but they are marginal.

Yeah, I do t think 1TB will be enough. Especially if you run other apps on your Umbrel.

I don't think so because you can just prune all the way down to 1gb.

My guess is it has something to do with Bitcoin Knots vs Bitcoin Core nodes.
