All these movements are like a pendulum, they start at one extreme in opposition to an injustice, then take on a life of their own and swing to the other extreme - becoming just another flavor of the thing they were fighting against.

Meanwhile the injustice remains.

This is the nature of politicising interest groups. Once a political party that has captured the votes, they can't allow the issue to be resolved otherwise will be no reason to continue voting for the party.
