GM,frens!!

I just had a delicious apricot homemade jam with toasted bread for breakfast. I have always loved jam,and the best ones I had in my life were made in Germany.

However, last week I finally found one that is made in Brazil and that is so tasty you wouldnโ€™t believe it. The first flavor I tried was passion fruit with mango. Unbelievably yummy!๐Ÿ˜‹

Do you like jam as well? Whatโ€™s your favorite flavor?

Have a great day ahead! Love you all! ๐Ÿ’œ

Yum! Homemade is always best!

I had an apricot tree once at a rental I lived in. Made 20l of jam that year. Lasted me years even though I gave a lot away.

If I buy some rural land in the next year or two a few apricot trees have to go in.

My mom has a small garden in her house and she also has some tree fruits and vegetables that we use for recipes as well. I want to make grape jam soon. โค๏ธ Just like you she also gives away fruits to people. ๐Ÿ˜˜

We have 3 apicot trees and when things go well it's way too much fruit for us, so we give a lot away. But then there are years with barely any fruit, mostly because of spring frostbites.

My favourite form of conservation of apricots is freezing though. It's so great during winter. I have almost no use for jams (too sweet).

Freezing sounds good.

Annoying re frost! What's your local climate like?

I'm not a huge fan of sweet foods either, but I didn't have a freezer nearly large enough for that harvest.

That said, I used to sometimes drink a glass of milk with a spoonful of honemade apricot jam stirred in. I only have commercial jam in the house right now, but maybe I'll try...

I'm in Prague, so it's like Germany. The most problematic springs are when there is a great, almost summer like 2 weeks followed by "winter's back, baby!".

The trees start o bloom and boom here comes the frostbites (mostly in early mornings). But when it's cold during the bloom, there are also no bees, resulting in almost no polination.

It is quite common as the cold and warm air starts to mix in the spring, you often get a wave of warm african air on one side of a huge whirlwind, followed by the same thing from the arctic at the back of it. Two weeks of early summer and two weeks of "february" afterwards.

Oh, and we are only putting a small partof the harvest into the freezer. No point of storing more like that than you can eat in one year. Unlike with jams (that often age well), frozen fruit degrades and you want to have the space for the new harvest.

Makes sense, I will keep that in mind

Gm never heard of mango jam, it sounds amazing

You would love it. Itโ€™s so tropical!

Apple ones, in various combinations. Also love to make it from rosebuds, it gets such a special flavour ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿคž

I envy you fresh mangos etc. Any time I hear "what you have in europe is not even a shadow of the real thing" it makes me curious.

They are right. Best fruits are in South America. ๐Ÿ’œ
