It’s so funny that as soon as the rain starts falling and I hear the thunder, I feel so much peace. I love the rain, and I’ve always enjoyed watching storms. On the other hand, my mom has always feared them. I remember how scared she used to get whenever a storm was approaching when I was a child. I don’t know exactly why I feel this way, but there’s something magical about thunderstorms that I just can’t explain. ⚡️🌩️

What are your favorite examples of antagonists that change and grow throughout a story but generally remain antagonists?

Eg they are not “protagonist villains” like Walter White, and they are not “redeemed villains” because at least in some ways, they fail to redeem or their growth arc, while present, is stunted.

Usually an antagonist is static, while a protagonist grows to defeat them. But in some fiction, the antagonist grows and changes and yet still is an antagonist.

Jamie Lannister is an interesting example. He starts off by callously pushing a child out a window. And he goes to war against the protagonists of House Stark.

But then he gets humbled, has his perspective changed, fixes some of his weaknesses and leans more on his strengths, becomes likeable by the audience, finds himself pairing up with the protagonists more, etc. So he goes through a growth arc.

But then at the end, he still chooses his original side. More mature, but still ultimately bound by his same weaknesses. An interesting arc to watch, and one that probably would have been more interesting if the last season wasn’t rushed and bad.

Any other good examples? Maybe ones that remain more villainous than Jaime?

is like giving instructions to an untalented painter

and then being surprised that he didn't do a Caravaggio.

Indeed.

Like running 42 kilometers on the treadmill

and saying you did the New York City Marathon.

That's the distance.

But there was no crowd, there was no city.

There was no soul.

The artist is not the one who clicks "generate."

And no, the patron is not an artist either.

The real talent of the patron

is to choose the right artist, and then keep quiet.

He does not participate in the work.

He funds it, demands it, hangs it.

But the work originates elsewhere.

So what is AI art?

It is something, yes.

But it is not enough to call everything "art"

to make it sacred.

Sometimes it is just

a machine that obeys,

to a command without poetry.

I remember I spend 12 hours trying to figure out how to make the Depth Chart for Robosats with the charts library 3 years ago.

And my AI fren just took 3 prompts to reach to the same results. Awesome.

I used claude-3.7-sonnet. The prompt was really custom (I am far from a prompt engineer 😁) but I can share them here if you are really interested
