NOSTR: THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH PROTOCOL
Discussion
Does Flare allow background play (listening while the phone is locked)?
It doesn't have a native app - it's just a web page. If the browser supports it, background playback might work. Alternatively you can try zap.stream/videos which shows them as well (in a different player).
You can use the Zapstream PWA. It plays on my phone with the screen locked. Zapstream is using the same event as flare. Hence the content from flare displays on zapstream and vice versa.
Should there be a bot that searches Kind 1 notes for videos to post on Flare (which I imagine has its own Kind format)?
That's not ideal because the video kind also needs description, thumbnail and video metadata (e.g. duration). It's would be better to have apps post these kinds natively.
Thumbnail and metadata like duration could easily be incorporated with the bot
Description is a bit trickier though, I agree
Only thing that comes to mind is to have an AI transcribe the content and then summarize and title it, but would be costly
Would only be able to rely on zaps to get value back so maybe not the best idea
Just thought Iβd throw it out there because people post a bunch of videos as Kind 1s that would be great to build the Flare repository with, but very few people will do the work to post in both areas
