when it comes to primal, i don’t personally have an issue with their approach as long as they remain transparent, which they are.

they’ve even open-sourced their caching server. as long as they never take my keys to the server, i’m okay with it.

i believe they’re genuinely trying to deliver the best possible user experience, and i respect that. i sincerely hope they succeed along with other clients.

also, no, it’s not a silo, it’s a river & we've a ocean ahead!

aren't they a mirror not a client?

That's a fair perspective! Transparency is key.

I owe my on-boarding onto nostr to primal. I tend to use amethyst now more as I just prefer the interface but primal is the best choice for new people to nostr

In my opinion you underestimate the approach of nostr:nprofile1qqszpxr0hql8whvk6xyv5hya7yxwd4snur4hu4mg5rctz2ehekkzrvcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurvv438xarj9e3k7mgpr9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezu7n9vfjkget99e3kcmm4vsq3yamnwvaz7tm0venxx6rpd9hzuur4vg5xqmxe

It has a built-in wallet without kyc, login with Amber, is cross-platform, handles long notes and videos beautifully.

For onboarding new people I no longer recommend Primal.

Yea nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q is dope af and I never had any problems besides is UX

Once it starts to look and feel better it will be a Top contender.

“it’s not a silo, it’s a river & we've a ocean ahead!”

Silicon Valley marketing speak which doesn’t actually mean anything.

It’s either centralized or it isnt.

If you choose centralization for the sake of convenience that is your choice, and your freedom. the long term consequence of the choice is on you, and time will tell.

What is the value of transparently avoiding all the hard problems?

creating a caching server that processes raw data from relays while keeping it up-to-date, real-time, consistent, and personalized for each user is no easy task, these are very hard problems. on top of that, they've developed a built-in wallet that integrates seamlessly with their clients.

i can see why their approach might be a dealbreaker for some, i really do. but to say primal isn't innovating seems a bit unfair.
