Rough estimate for number of active lurkers? This is over a 30 day period 🤔 this seems high… this is across the damus domain which includes the relay.

it is possible for a 30 day period if you include traffic from back links, search engines etc

yeah maybe cut this in half for a conservative estimate

~700K seems really high... Wow.

Hmm. It's potentially higher if a lot of users use VPN and show as from the same IP. I'm guessing a lot of bots would be using VPN so their numbers would not inflate things too much.

so this includes non-Damus clients reading from damus relay?

yup

And for the #tardstr, “unique visitor” = “lurker” here? Does it specifically exclude unique visitors who sign/publish events?

this is unique ip connections to the relay and damus.io website

I suspect most of these numbers is to the relay though, i don’t know what the exact breakdown is, i don’t have detailed analytics

Looks like some bots are running on a VPN with ip rotation…

Maybe 🤷‍♂️

Would be interesting to compare to number of signed events per day… or average bandwidth usage per unique ip

Impressively stable 🤙

Jokes on you, I change IP multiple times a day via VPN.

According to our data, it's 1.4M but 10% are feds.

I am no lurker for a platform I believe in

Active lurker Amethyst user here 🙋‍♀️. We exist, lol.

I mostly lurk

NSA is trying to DDOS you…

An older study but they estimate 90% lurkers

A newer one with a range between 45%-90%

Would make sense?
