Recommendations needed for free open source software for my business:

1. Project management (something like Monday.com for events, client management, etc.)

2. CRM - to manage prospect/sales funnel

I'm on Windows OS but also have Linux /Ubuntu on a laptop so I could switch to Linux if it doesn't require command line knowledge.

Using spreadsheets now and it's a mess ....

emacs org-mode

just kidding 😅

or am I 🤔

I just perused it....I'm looking for something that's less technical.

Thank you 🙏

I would rather use sc-im 😑 .. just because #vim .... always better :-) and it is mother of all spreadsheets !

didn't know about sc-im, thanks for sharing!

What exact features you look for in these groups? And what exactly sucks in spreadsheets?

Previously I used Monday. Com....it's like excel with automations/reminders and integrations to email (send track emails from the app)....when a status changes, it automatically moves the item to the next stage of the process..

I'm sure I could spend hours setting this up with macros in excel, but if there's software that already does it, why waste my time?

For instance, in Monday I would set up tables ( to do, In Progress, done) that would track

1. Prospects (contact info, initial contact, follow up, notes) with reminder automations

2. Event planning (sign up forms that linked to tables in Monday to track attendee information on signup forms...also, event timeline with sub sections for details.... integration with proton mail would be ideal to send automatic emails (thanks for signing up! Or here are the event details email...etc(

Does that help?

Hmm. Unfortunately I don't have too much experinces with such softwares.

Maybe you could check here if you find something good:

Thank you.

It seems like I need to set up a server.

I have some technical capabilites, but don't want my business to be overrun by keeping tech up to date ....

Now I understand why nostr:npub1ttc8j3sx59d4vs0zt23r6p90fjcd040x3vgu4j68u44ydx8u4rzqkxm0da said to just keep it organized on excel 😂

Another option you use spreadsheets, plus learn a little python 😂: https://automatetheboringstuff.com/

It can go a long way. 🤙

Just to make sure, you basically handled forms and spreadsheets in monday + some email automation?

No matter what you use - from SAP to Salesforce to opensource tools (that rarely work) - at the end you will download everything to excel .. or something like it .. So ..

If you are lazy and want some automations - take a look it at https://www.smartsheet.com/

I used it in two of my large SAP implementation programs and both places clients adopted the solution for their day to day business .. It is spreadsheets on steroids .. you will need bit of hand holding if you are not tech savvy .. they have a free option to try things out ...

I don't know, but I'm interested in seeing other people's answers.

Even after installing sophisticated tools , you would still download things in spreadsheets :-) So .. just be more diligent with spreadsheets .. OS doesn't matter ..

In Monday, that was not the case for me.

They have a free version but I tried it for something else a while back andthe features I wanted were premium/pay.

Thank you. This also needs a server to self host.... Or I could try follow the GitHub instructions to build/ run a standalone desktop app.

Is this project no longer supported? The GitHub page says mattermost is no longer reviewing/ merging pull requests for focal board or mattermost boards plug ins. Encouraging community to fork the repository...

It likely has sufficient features, I'm unclear what happens tho if I upgrade my OS in a year... Will the software stop working?

Thank you. Sounds like I need to run my own server for this .... Which I don't...

I wonder if it will be available on Umbrel or Something like that

Good luck!
