makes sense. Proof of work on whatever you really like.
That would make like bots useless as they have to pay for it. Makes sense to me.
Not necessarily right now, lets see how this evolves. Likes are still useful.
Also not everyone comes here with sats. Maybe in a year zaps are going to totally replace likes, no yet tho.
Being proposed on Damus:
Think we would see a lot more posts without engagement at all, an “agree”/like is easier than a zap or reply.
If damus had a built in wallet I could probably change my mind about this

Agreed, I think there would be a dramatic drop in engagement. Personally I don’t care that much about zaps, I prefer people to actually comment for real engagement.
It’d be nice to promote a giving ⚡️ environment. Yet my fingers r programmed to like even if I want to zap too. It’s funny how we get used to certain things.

Zaps, reposts, comments and likes all have their use case as feedback mechanisms.
10 likes reduces the feed clutter by replacing 10 'yup' responses. Not everyone wants to engage in small talk or to wade through tons of small talk responses in their feed.
No need to remove feedback mechanisms just because some person don't see the use case.
Or maybe you can set a like to a consistent amount like 88 sats g whatever you want. Then the zap amount is off you feel it deserves more!
