I believe in organic shifts of tech adoption and principles of usage over users, BUT If there had to be one major, reasonably realistic incident in tech to demonstrate the fragility of centralized technology and institutions, what do you think it would be?

Collapse of the fiat monetary policy doesn't count - That's already happening.
