The strawberry & asparagus companionship might be the most synergistic planting pair I've seen in action. It's insane how well they tend to each other.

Cool didn't know e that

If you have one or the other, its worth planting its opposite. I can't believe how much this patch is producing.

Nice

I've just planted a single row of crowns this year. it would be awesome if I could grow a row strawberries in parallel. Would that work in your experience?

Yeah, that's actually the recommended planting. These are pretty scattered because it was originally going to be strictly berries. Just kind of popped in some asparagus where there was room. They don't seem to mind their haphazard placement.

I am sure I have read about this somewhere and it's starting to happen here on the north side of my house but completely forgot about it. Clearly going to have to move things around here a little more. Appreciate your insight 🫂

No problem! The apsarugi pictured are only 2 years old, and from seed, if that gives you any more insight into how well these pair.

Thats useful to know I have some crowns I have planted and are doing well. Seed has been less successful due to unexpected droughts whenever I come to plant it but in the strawberry area under some tree canopy might work regardless.

It usually grows well round here I see it on the way to town growing on strip of grass between the dual carriageway aka the freeway.

That makes sense. They really like heavy wet, but high drain soil. I'd even consider mixing in some rock, if the area is able to be worked over a little bit.

Yeah the west of England gets wet 🙂 Here the rock mulched stuff is really interesting everything will more volcanic based rock dust on it way ahead of everything else this year.
