minitbits has the advantage of being a native app and doesn't run into background issues.

cashu.me installed as a PWA has also been working really well for me.

you have to go into either one's settings and use the NWC string. basic idea: you copy a NWC string from any compatible wallet, and then in Amethyst you long-press on the zap icon on a note, then in the popup you find the NWC area and tap the clipboard icon.

that should paste the relevant NWC bits.

now when you zap, ir should initiate actions in the wallet.

some wallets need you to open them up and have them in the foreground to process it.

let me know if you have questions

Thank you!! Great info, can’t wait to dig in more!

This is custodial, right? How do you find a mint you trust?

It is custodial, yes! and somewhat experimental at the moment, so tread lightly.

I use https://mint.minibits.cash/Bitcoin and https://stablenut.umint.cash but there are a lot. cashu.me has a mint browser. hang out long enough in nostr ecash alleys and you might get invited to private mints.

deploy your own mint

I’m running an Alby Hub node, which I like. Maybe I could get into ecash. Why not just use LNURLw?

well fundamentally LN and ecash mints are very different, so yes you could use LNURLw but your node needs to be online, have liquidity, and have a synced node.

With ecash you can do payments offline, without the channel liquidity dilemma, no onchain utxo. You risk doublespend of the ecash whilst online, there is a certain about of trust you have to have in the sender when you accept an offline payment.

I would recommend looking into the documentation on cashu.space and watching calles talks and podcasts about it
