All of these came from the same mother. I am having a hard time selecting this year they are all delicious. Basically just not saving seed from the real small ones.

That medium sized one in the front looks amazing.

That's the one I'd go for too! 😍

The medium ones for some reason are just a tad bit sweeter. I think that is where the genetics wants to go because I am getting about 75 percent medium. And the plants that produce those seem healthier and more prolific. About half are cantaloupe orange and 1/2 are green like a honey dew.

Save the biggest seeds from the best plant

Did you let these pollinator together? If so its not too critical in terms of selection. You could always save seed from all individual plants. Name them and include description of charactersistics. Then plant out a trial of each individuals progeny. Record obs and select the best performer from that test for mass planting the following year.

Maybe this is already what you aredoinfg lol?!

It is what I am doing. I am in the fortunate position that all the plants are healthy, Productive and tasty. In addition I would not say it was a particularly favorable year for melons here. It is kinda what I’ve been working towards for 4 years. And it’s hard to believe the selection is largely based on taste and size. But I do save seeds from every plant just in case I want to go back to it.
