Let's say it is a valid heuristic. Somebody having posted frequently but not getting followers is either very niche or very low signal. The beauty of social media is that you can find your flock even if you are very niche, so for his followers he might still be very high signal.
That said, I wish we could make this tangible. Why are people following me? Which of my followers will unfollow me over this or that post I'm about to hit send on? AI will get us there and I'm not sure it's good. Feeding the algorithm.

Follower counts are a shitcoin. People with them will say we’re jealous but look at how many low follower count plebs you follow here - it’s a function of what signal you want and that often won’t equate to followers.
I post about elite theory which is a niche barely anyone cares about on here but it’s the rabbit hole I’m in and interests me so I post about it. If it gains or loses followers isnt the point - social media works because people put out what interests them and others eventually pick up on new ideas.
