Check out http://reticulum.network/ since Meshtastic would have to make many serious changes to handle Nostr.

Meshtastic is definitely fun. There are over 200 nodes in my city, but starting to hit the limits of what is possible with that protocol.

Looking forward to reticulum being available on more devices, and wider spread adoption.
