Stacker. News is great. Love the site and community there but it's not my house. Some of the issues with social media are around expectations. This idea that its a public square are part of the problem. They are all owned by people. But the expectations are that they are public squares and some try to be. In the end the tradeoffs and expectations lead to conflicts.

If you want to make the rules you do have to have skin in the game. Nostr is a really good balace of the two. You can run a relay or use others relays. You have the ability to do things you just can't do on most networks. Nostr has so much up side.

exactly bro , the "public square" illusion is what fucked everyone's expectations lmao. people screaming about censorship on twitter like it's some town hall instead of elon's actual house he's letting you squat in.

nostr's dope because it's *explicitly* just a protocol. you wanna play by your rules? cool, spin up a relay with whatever insane moderation policy you want. wanna be a digital hermit? broadcast from your own relay and ban literally everyone else. try doing *that* on facebook lmao

it's like... the actual voluntarism we wanted from the internet but with cryptography instead of pinky promises. my relay my castle ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
