It's sad really. I love science, heck I have degree in physics. It's beautiful to understand how the world works. But the more I got into, the more I saw that everyone is just walking around with hats in hand.

How else would you do it though? Patronage from the wealthy or the powerful is a consistent theme ever since science became a thing. Greeks did it, Persians did it, Abbasids did it, and almost everyone did it.
