This is resonating really hard with me right now. I pulled away from most of my family (and friends) over the past 4-5 years and went through a lot of what you described, trying to withdraw, disappear. But have recently been making an effort to (re)connect with them individually again. The disappoint is/was there and maybe always will be, but I guess I have given into acceptance of that. And less expectations.
