Seriously. I hate the YouTube app, but there are people so addicted to it, they can't even stop watching videos while driving.
You forgot the "refresh the video page multiple times and/or start/pause/unpause the video because google is making the youtube work really bad on non chrome browsers".
Use NewPipe, get broken randomly by YouTube updates, use FreeTube, got IP blocked by YouTube after opening 3-4 videos in 10 minutes.
Use Kodi addonw, need dev API key and long setup but working so far.
Still better than using any official fronend.
Again, using these tools, that we all know about them, is just mental gymnastic and do not solve the real PROBLEM. The problem is that most of content creators are just lazy and do not look for alternatives.
We need to use alternative platforms and boycott YT.

Yes I agree, I watch some content on PeerTube instances (like bitcointv) or Odyssey but it's like a tiny fraction of what is still exculively on YouTube. Even if I skip all these "entertainers" that pretend to inform or educate while they are just promoting shit in reality for some kind of more or less cheap entertainment to the audience (probably a very large part of YouTube today) there are still a few valuable channels that are nowhere else and not willing to make the effort to be someplace else for 5-10% of their audience.
But you are right, at some point we should just boycott every content who is not offering a free alternative (where we could reward them directly with zap or donation). Same like messengers, you can install whatever better alternative, as long as you keep WhatsApp and shit on your phone, people will have zero incentive to move to these alternative that you use on the side.

You can use a VPN with Freetube, and change location when blocked. It works.
Again, this is avoiding the problem, not fixing it.
