Is Jesus Christ the Tao, and was Lao Tzu His prophet in China?

Just found a cheap, used copy in great condition of *Christ the Eternal Tao* by Hieromonk Damascene (who sounds Orthodox; it remains to be seen if he is orthodox).

The back cover states that

> *Christ the Eternal Tao* shows Lao Tzu's Tao Teh Ching as a foreshadowing of what would be revealed by Christ, and Lao Tzu himself as a Far-Eastern prophet of the Incarnate God.

😲🧐

Has anyone already read it?

Sounds interesting! I have not, have not even read the Bible and Tao te ching but I plan to 😃

Actually this looks really weird to me, I have never seen anything like this before, to me Tao Te Ching and the Bible are completely two different things 🤔I can't even imagine how these two can be combined together, I would like to read this if I have any chances

Yeah, I'd like to see the case the author makes. I do find it interesting that when Bible translators in 1911 looked for the right word to translate "Logos", which refers to Jesus in John 1:1, they chose the word Tao.

I have found the wisdom and philosophy in the Tao Te Ching intriguing. It's like natural law, or a human who didn't have special revelation of Yahweh trying to comprehend and explicate the universe and mind behind it.

There's also this one podcast I once found regarding Christianity and Taoism:

As I can find, there's not much discussions or articles about this topic in Chinese websites, so it's really an interesting perspective on what I used to learn about^^ Thank you for presenting me this, I shall work on that later

I have read it, it is very well done. Heiromonk Damascene is Orthodox 👍
