5.4 would have made bigger news nationally. 3.6 near Chicago is still startlingly larger than I had thought it would be though 😲:

That seems like a far more reliable number than the one I saw in the news. 😝
I don’t know much about earthquakes, other than that I don’t remember them ever happening this close to me in my lifetime. 😬
Local news seems to grab whatever the highest number that comes in might be especially if it’s rare. I remember we got something like a 1.1 somewhere near me once and the news was alllll over it because I think it was the only earthquake in 40 years? Something like that. 🤦♀️😂
Apparently there was a slightly smaller one in southern Illinois just a few weeks ago, too. 🤔
