The sun and moon are the same size and very close to us, so as they follow their circular track, different parts of the earth are lit/dark, creating timezones
This is also why when you go way up north, the sun is out nearly 24hrs a day, and never sets in some places
The seasons are caused by the sun/moon track narrowing and widening their path annually - attached a few videos below to explain further!

I’m still stumped by star trails in the southern “hemisphere.” My understanding is that while different constellations, they rotate in the same manner as in the north.
I once saw a video where they had a clear, domed paperweight on top of a flat earth map and it demonstrated how the reflections of stars around the outer edges would give the impression of rotation but I can’t find it now.
