A lump of coal floating in a sea of oil. We were never gonna make it

Such a shame. And then we tax ourselves at 70% to enjoy it. I might move back to Kuwait…

If you're able, why not. I may go east but not for a couple of years

I lived there for 6 years. As an expat you don’t get the same quality of life as a Kuwaiti but it was damn high comparatively. The citizens however - totally different story. Shared wealth. Government considered as “family”, basic income for all. Land and housing upon marriage. Job provided. Totally different setup. But I guess based on a small population, oil wealth and a strong currency. Will be interesting to see how they cope when/if the oil dries up.

Oh and minimal income tax apart from a voluntary 2.5%+ Zakat (Islamic tax) for the less fortunate.

I live in Tower Hamlets, I know what a Zakat is!!

Imagine the UK gov saying we expect you to give 2.5% of your yearly income/wealth (more if you wish) and then leaving it at that. 😅

Yeah, not happening
