One of the things that’s also turned out to be pretty useless is studying. I’m not saying 'don’t study'—you get to learn about the world and people, which is perfect for your early twenties. But don’t count on it for a lifetime of job security, especially not with AI around.

I think useless is the wrong word. Useful but for all the wrong reasons.

University certainly didn't educate me; but the bit of paper is very important to risk-averse hiring managers. And parents-in-law.

Sci-Hub, Anna's Archive, LibGen and Nostr are where the education is :)

Right, and there are definitely jobs that require a degree, like doctors, engineers, or lawyers. But most degree programs are just BS, like sociology, economy or communications.

Truth.

And even the degrees that are not inherently BS are often taught very poorly or to unsuited people.

Google reviews are gamed, but are still a stronger signal than any degree.

In-laws got their buy in a few years ago, and I'm past getting hired solely on the merit of my degrees. But I'll check those educational hubs you mentioned, thanks.

I grew up big on studying. I excelled in it, went all they to a Master's and was planning for a PhD. Thankfully, research was too boring for me. I'm an engineer, and studying got me to a good position now. But now, I don't care for it as much as I did 10 years ago. Especially with AI just wreaking havoc on everything.

So, I can't say it was useless, but I agree it didn't provide me with a lifetime drive. One reason I'm externalizing this thought is I am not really sure how to proceed from here after I'm done with hardcore engineering.

Ps. I'm not sure why you can't zap, others zapped me just now.

Yes, I see other could zap you. Tried 3 clients, Primal, Yakihonne and Jumble, all fail.
