I’m of the opinion that many young people who disrespectfully demand you do this or say this have never really been punched in the face.

I mean a good, square shot, with both feet planted, and hips swiveled.

When you have been punched in the face as a consequence of not correctly estimating or respecting your surroundings it has a tendency to cause you to be more reflective in the future.

More reflection is generally a good thing.
