The WEF posted a positive story about bitcoin mining’s ability to soak up stranded energy and capture otherwise-leaking methane.

But they made sure to call it “data centers”.

It has no sense. You can't put fast landline everywhere methane is. It's just not economical. This will remain #Bitcoin miners opeeations. Fact that they refuse to mentiin it's #Bitcoin showes they're against it but I guess they'll buy it themselves eventually(if mot already)

Pretty sure all windfarms have internet for remote monitoring / control. Same for wells?

Will it work as a datacenter if it's not very fast? I doubt it but I may be wrong.

Plus - cost of securing it from theft, fire and so on will be much higher when you have many small datacenters instead of just 1 or few. Decentralization isn't cheapest way of doing things and costs!
