Amethyst has some default relays built in.

The problem is, this lends itself to capture by big relays. If everything is centralized on a few central relays, it's not much different from the problem with all other social media.

Basically what I am saying is the devs need to think in terms of a typical user, not a professional coder

I agree with that, completely, but the protocol is still in its infancy. I would prefer that the solution not be centralization, otherwise, I might as well use twitter.
