Noticed that I feel much better on nostr than Twitter. Much of that has to do with Twitter’s over-optimized tweets and negativity. But a large part of it is likely because I no longer have to focus on follower count.

On nostr followers are super inaccurate and depend on your relays so you never really know what’s the right number. Combined with the fact that Damus hides this by default, my mind no longer has to wander into that part of the app. I simply could care less now.

I mean, I didn’t care before either, but somehow it was always in the back of my mind.

If it were up to me I’d remove this metric entirely but even as is it’s much better.

Here I don’t need to pick words. Just say what’s on my mind and people either agree or don’t. No big deal. No algo, no punishment for stupid notes. Get blocked or don’t - fair deal.

Great❗️💯 Agree

Good interactions >>>> followers count

Totally 👍

I love no ad feature in nostr 💕

Yeah that’s awesome too. Lost count how many times I was frustrated with ads.

Social media should optimize for fewest negative feelings not vanity metrics.

imma get rid of followers count in snort 🔥

🔥 🔥 yessss

I especially don’t miss all the negativity that Twitter has. This place is much more positive and constructive..

Bitcoin incentives > fiat incentives

FIAT has even disincentives for a lot of people

I'm the same on here as on Twitter, although here I am unleashed from the character limit. I never cared much about follower/subscriber count - engagement and reach is what matters. Many of the followers on Twitter are bots or non-active accounts so they will not interact in either case.

The smaller population and lesser reach here on Nostr makes most of the difference from my observation. On Twitter I avoid participating in small talk while it makes more sense here at Nostr: we are at closer proximity to the Dunbar number of 150.

The signal to noise ratio is so much better here. Plus no ads is amazing

Simple as that 💜🧡

It's surprising to me how many people cite this as one of stressors of twitter (followers, likes, etc).

I generally just log on for the vibes and don't think about unless someone else brings it up. Then agains I'm also just bad at being 'social' so that might be why too 😂.

Happy you're in a better place on Damus!
